No hard drive detected installing xp

Chris Vaughn

I have an Asus a7n8x-e deluxe motherboard. Single Maxtor
serial ata hard drive. Running win98se. When I boot from
cd to install winxp it brings up a message that says it
can't detect hard drive. When I install from desktop and
after first reboot error message says that a problem with
harddrive detected, may have a virus, run checkdisk /f.
Is there maybe a problem with hard drive, But if there is
then why wont boot up installation recognize hard drive.
Is it because it's a serial ata. You can choose to install
stall drivers with installation floppy disk but my asus
package did not come with floppy disk, everything is on 1
cd-rom.

Thanks,

Chris, I would go to Maxtor's website and download the needed drivers and
software. You can also look
on the CD. Did you enable SATA in the Bios?
