I installed Win.XPPro, as an upgrade to Win.ME on the PC and after all was
finished I was landed with a completely different opening screen on the
Monitor. Everything is in miniature and my former background scene appears
the size of a postcard in the middle of the screen!

Where do I find means of altering the presentation of the opening screen and
how do I do it? Thank you all!

It looks as if the incorrect driver for the video card is being used.

It's never a good idea to upgrade over Windows 9.x because Windows 9.x and
XP have different architectures.

If I were you, I would format the hard drive and install XP cleanly, minus
any of ME.

As long as you have the ME CD you can install XP cleanly from the upgrade
version of XP.

See this site for info on how to do a clean installation of XP;

It is usually a very satisfactory result, as nearly all the system will
get replaced. It retains installed software and drivers that might be
difficult to restore in a clean XP.

At Control Panel - Display - Desktop check on the wallpaper file in
use. It may in fact be a low resolution one that is being centred. A
properly carried out upgrade should in fact be displaying the XP
standard wall paper, not one from a previous system, which leaves me
wondering just how this 'upgrade' was in fact performed
