welcome screen and user account problems...

I am running Windows XP on my home computer. Just recently, my computer has
started to do some strange things. When you boot the computer, the Welcome
Screen appears at about half the size it used to be (it was full screen). I
have 5 accounts on this computer (2 admin), of which all would appear on the
Welcome Screen. However, now only 1 account (1 of the admin) appears on this
miniature Welcome Screen. Do any of you guys have any idea as to what could
have caused this change and how I would go about fixing it? Thanks in advance.

Can you possibly resize this welcome screen? Do you see the rest of the
accounts after you resize it?

You can try this - resize the screen, close it, restart the system again.
Now if welcome screen appears, it should be of a larger size...

You can not resize the welcome screen just move it around on the screen. It
is about a 4x6 size screen. There is an option link, but all it allows you to
do is shut the computer down.

Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click User Accounts.
In User Accounts, click on "Change the way users log on or
off".
When the screen changes put a check mark in the box next to
"Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching".
Hit the "Apply Options" button.
Restart the system and see if the Welcome Screen is now
displayed.

Good luck

I tried that already. It won't let me apply any of the settings. All I get is
a pop-up box that says user group is not defined.

That is exactly what I see when I boot up. I had not tried logging onto any
of the other accounts, but you can put in their username and password and log
on. What I want to know is how to get the Welcome Screen back to the way it
was originally, rather than this login box.

Nevermind...I figured out what the problem was.

We recently added a linsys wireless g usb adapter to this machine. The setup
wizard that comes on the disk loads a file called gtgina.dll. The causes a
conflict with the welcome screen and fast-user switching, in affect disabling
it altogether.

I went to the linksys website and downloaded the driver to a location on my
hard drive. Then I uninstalled the usb adapter by going to add and remove
programs. Then I restarted the computer. When XP recognized the USB adapter
on startup, I used the driver I downloaded to load the usb adapter back on my
machine. Using the wireless networking wizard, I set up the my wireless
network again. Now my windows welcome screen is back to normal.

hope this helps anyone having this problem.
