New Win2K install goes fine, but 1st time boot fails

Hi All,

After a good install of Win2K using NTFS where everything
goes fine, even complete format on a new drive, then Win2K
reboots for the first time and gives the "Disk Boot
Failed. Insert System Disk and press enter"

I have tried a different hard drive.
I have tried putting the hard drive on a different IDE
channel.

I have comfirmed the HD is set correctly.. IE Master only.

I have tried the HD with a CD on the slave side.
I have tried another IDE cable regular not EIDE.
I have tried FDisking with Win98 then formating NTFS with
Win2K.
No go...
Any ideas...

Thanks in advance!

Is the partition primary and active? FDISK from WIN9x will reveal that.

Does your BIOS have any setting for protecting the boot sector? In that
case, is it disabled?

Best regards

Bjorn
