New web pages in My Favorites

I have an Emachines 2460 (Windows XP/Outlook Express 6.0
and Internet Explorer 6.0) that is less than a year old.
It's a great machine and I've had absolutely no problems
with it. However, the other day I noticed that I was no
longer able to add new web pages to My Favorites. I
contacted Emachines -- first they told me to reinstall
Internet Explorer; then they told me to repair it; then
they told me to go to the Microsoft Website and
redownload it (I tried that, but I got a pop-up box
saying that the version on my computer was newer than the
version I was trying to download). Now with yesterday's
news that Gateway has bought Emachines, I'm very
concerned about getting this problem fixed before my
warranty runs out. Does anybody have any idea why I'm no
longer able to add new web pages to My Favorites? Do you
think it might have something to do with my ISP? I'm so
clueless when it comes to this stuff, and all of
the "self-help" options on this site get me even nore
confused. Thank you.

Favorites are stored in a folder. It is a hidden folder. Copy the content
of the Favorites folder to a backup folder. Then delete Favorites. Reboot
the computer and let Windows recreate it. Now copy the content back to new
Favorites folder.

How many Favorites are you trying to keep in the Favorites folder?
There may be a limit to the number which can be shown in the menu
so you may need to categorize your Favorites and sort them into
subfolders to see them all.

Good luck
