New User Trying to Download Messages from Comcast Mail to Inbox

Hello,

Today I added my Comcast and GMAIL email accounts to Windows Mail. The GMAIL
one worked perfectly, and all my previous messages from Microsoft Outlook on
my old computer downloaded perfectly to Windows mail on my new computer.
Unfortunately, Comcast did not work so well. I cannot get any of my old
messages onto Windows mail, and in fact, when I perform a test message, I
can't find where the message goes to. My gmail all go into a "imap/gmail" set
of folders, but no folders appeared for the Comcast mail. I only see "Local
Folders" and the test mail doesn't show up there. I tried deleting and
readding my comcast mail, and I double checked to make sure the information
is correct. Any advise/suggestions?

I SOOO appreciate anyones help in this matter!!

Okay... I figured out how to get new Comcast emails to show up, but is there
any possible way to import emails from my old computer's outlook, to my new
computer's Windows Mail? Thanks again!

You have two choices: 1. Install Outlook on the Vista machine first,
preferably
version 2003 or later. Versions 2000 and 2002 also run under Vista, but
with
some problems. Windows Mail needs to use part of Outlook to be able to
import the .pst files that Outlook stores messages in. 2. First, import
the .pst
file into Outlook Express on your old computer which has both Outlook
Express and Outlook installed. Then, import the messages from Outlook
Express to Windows Mail.

After you copy the files to a directory on the hard drive of your Vista
computer (for example, a directory you create under the Documents
directory), make sure the copies are read-write instead of readonly
before you import them into Windows Mail.
