new to xp-java problem

i just got a new pc with windows xp. had millinium
previously. i play spades, euchre etc at yahoo. with
the new pc...the applet won't load by itself. i wait the
alotted 3 min. plus and still have to do the "click here"
to load applet thing. then after it loads and i'm in a
room, everything is kind of "shaky". like when i have my
cursor over an icon and u see the little popup box that
tells you what it is, that is shaky, almost blinks. and
so does the spade room. also i cannot use a little
program that keeps track of the cards played, i get a
message with it that says "you must be sitting at a
table" which normally would only show up if you're not at
a table..but i was. called dell and they had me uninstall
and reinstall java webstart and the video driver. didn't
work... geeeee, i hate changes. it's these little things
that can drive ya nutz!!

All commentary aside, you are a victim of a "lousy" image.
Dell insists on loading down a new, fast PC with all kinds
of "Bloatware". (Aol, Real Audio, ....) They probably did
not remove the Microsoft Java VM and added Sun's on
top of it. With all the software interactions, I'm amazed the
PC works at all. Start by going to Control Panel, Add/Remove
programs and remove everything you don't use or want.
