New to me computer needing owner name change

Hi,

What's the easiest way to change the owners name on a win 2000 Pro
computer? I just bought an older one for fooling around with and want to
delete the old owners name and substitute my own. I have the original
Win 2000 Pro disk.

Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / System / Network Identification /
Properties.

Navigate to;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
and edit the Reg_Sz strings:

"RegisteredOrganization"
"RegisteredOwner"

Hi Pegasus,

That line you recommended, Click Start / Settings / Control Panel /
System / Network Identification / Properties, looks like it would change
the computers name, but I'm looking to change the owners name. You know,
the name/company that's automatically filled in when new software is
installed.

Hi DAve,

That looks to be the place I was looking for. Thanks to both of you guys
for the assistance. Went down to play with the new box this morning and
the monitor doesn't seem to be getting a signal. That'll be the next fun
to get involved with. Worked fine before bringing it home. It's looking
like the power supply is kind of fickle.
