Finding the right error log in W2000

Hi,

My daughters computer at school was just hooked up to a cable service
that provides TV and ISP services. The TV in the other room works fine,
the problem is with her internet connection. Every few minutes she's
disconnected without warning. The company kid says it's a problem with
W2000 and she just needs to reboot her computer everytime it happens.
That works, but who in their right mind is going to go that route. I'm
reluctant to blame W2000 for anything as it's worked so well for us for
quite a few years.

I'd like to know what error log might contain some reference to what's
happening the instant she's cut off. I'd also like to know where I can
find that file.

Thanks a bunch for any help you can offer.

Hi again,

Just fooling around here for a couple of minutes trying

Start/run/ ipconfig /all

The window that opens looks like an old DOS screen, black with white
text. The nanosecond the info is presented, the window closes. Any idea
how I could keep it open for long enough to read?

Thanks again!
