new svchost.exe problem, please help!

Ok..

I've been searching for info on this for a few days now. For some reason (I am running Win 2k pro) after I connect to the internet (dial-up) and have accessed a few pages, svchost.eve crashes. Then I can't double click on anything on my desktop, etc. In fact, I can't even disconnect from the net. Of course, as I write this, for some reason it hasn't done it yet

I did have a worm virus that attached itself to my svchost.exe

Norton cleaned it, but now I'm left with this glitch.

Does anyone out there have a clue as to how I could fix this?!?!?! Thanks! It's driving me nuts
