I just installed update XP(KB826942) and it has added a
logon nuisance which I would like to remove.
When I try to boot I get a split screen in which I have
to click on the name of my computer before it actually
boots. It aslo occurs after my screensaver has been
running. I see no reason for this in my case since my
wife and I are the only people who have access to this
computer.
Thanks

To automatically log on
.. Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.
.. Type in the following:
control userpasswords2
.. now click OK
.. In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the
primary logon.
.. Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.
.. Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected
users password.
Click OK.
The changes will work the next time you restart your computer.

How to Enable Automatic Logon in Windows

With regard to the screensaver, go into your screensaver settings tab and
uncheck, "on resume display Welcome Screen".

Hope this assists.
