Hi,

We have some users' Outlook .pst files in the users' file server home
folder. If there has been a network problem and Outlook did not find
the .pst file, a new and empty .pst file is created.

How can we avoid that a new .pst file is automatically created in the
cases when Outlook cannot find the default one?

Thanks for comments on this

regards

Geir

You do realise that Microsoft does NOT support pst files on network drives
for precisely this reason?

This practice has been around here from before I started to work here.
The users say they need to access their Outlook mailstore (.pst file)
from other workstations from time to time.

Secondly they want to have a backup of their .pst file on the server in
case of local disk failure.

Any other (and more reliable) solution to these needs as of the
placement / management of .pst files?

Then the answer is to write a script to place a COPY of the pst file on the
server, not the working one.
