New programs installed message

In the last week or so evey time i click on the start button i get the new
programs installed message in the speech bubble, i have ignored it for a
while now, at first i thought i may have been hacked but i have found nothing
after checking manually and with AVG and AD aware for virus-trojan-spyware,
any ideas on why this is happening and how to stop it or cure it would be
appreciated.
