When does the new site go live & changes over, Ian?

It should be Monday if all goes to plan - I'll make an announcement post when the time nears. It's all ready to go now, so I could do it tomorrow, but I wanted to give people a chance to submit feedback in case there are any converns :thumb:.

Yep loving that so far Ian. :)

The quick links is nice to have as that is one thing i miss from other sites. (I know we have a similer thing here, but i guess i'm too used to the 'usual' VB way :) )

Nothing immediately jumps out at me so as far as i'm concerned its a job well done.

Am waiting patently for the darker theme though. :D

Cracking job sir. You should be very proud.:thumb:

Thanks mate, glad you like it :D

Once the site goes live the new darker theme option should be added within a couple of weeks - as far as I can tell it isn't hard to implement, as long as it works ok with the article system :).

Will we have to wait for a DNS refresh or whatever they call it?

Nope, it should be ok - I can copy the PHP files from the old server and use the new server database (linking the two).

However, the site will be out of action for a day while the database is moved and upgraded. The new software has some HUGE updates which need to be performed on the database, some steps taking a couple of hours at a time. So, on the transfer day I'll take a snapshot of the site in the early morning and get it upgraded on the new server. While that is going on, the old site will be out of sync - but I'll keep it running, however any new posts made that day won't be moved over. I'll plaster notices on here to let people know, as well as repeating this in an announcement beforehand :).

You may be lucky with the timezone difference and find that it's all already complete  .
