New PC won't POST - new CPU, worked but now no POST

ECS Nforce-3a Motherboard
AMD Sempron 3400+

The thing wouldn't POST, I tried everything you oculd think of. The
bare system, out of the case etc. I sent the CPU back and they said it
was faulty, so sent a new one back.

I installed the new one and the PC POST'ed no problem. I set the BIOS
settings etc, then I Exited with saving. The PC then just went to a
blank screen and the drives kept clunking as if they were looking for
something. So I thought I would install XP. Turned the PC off, but when
I restarted it, it wouldn't POST. No beep. Nothing.

Everything is whirring away - all the fans etc.

If I take out the RAM it beeps at me.

Any ideas at all??

Cheers

Junk psu or bad mainboard. Check your connections and make sure all
the mb power connectors are being used.>

The beeping is a good sign. That means the processor is
still executing BIOS code, in order to do the beeping.
So something further along the food chain is not working.
It could be when you reinstall the RAM, that the RAM is
holding the thing back (bad RAM). You'll have to
experiment with your components and add a thing at
a time, to get a better idea as to what is broken.

What kind of power supply are you using ?
Copy the specs off the label on the side of
the supply and post them. Just to check out
the possibility that the supply is too small.

What kind of video card are you using ?

Sounds like you messed up a BIOS setting. Reset CMOS and try it again.
