Greetings all,

I'm putting together a new PC: P4 3.06, 1 GB DDR Ram, XP Pro, etc. The PC
has 2 IDE channels, and it will have 2 hard drives and 2 optical drives (1
DVD burner, 1 CDRW burner).

What's the best way to configure the IDE channels? Put both HDs together on
the primary and the burners on the secondary, or put 1 HD and 1 burner
together on each channel? If I split them up, which should be the master and
slave on the secondary channel, the HD or the burner?

Does any of this really matter much in terms of peak performance? or does
Windows XP manage it all efficiently enough no matter how they're daisy
chained?

Thanks for your advise.

As far as I know it is a matter of choice, but I typically see the hard
drives grouped together on the same channel, one as master and one as
slave. Same goes for the optical drives.
