What version of Word?
What view are you in?
How much text have you typed in?
What happens when you press Ctrl+Enter (to enter a Manual Page Break).

I've seen this issue posted before. I checked the archives of this group and
found some advice that Suzanne Barnhill gave to another poster:
Go to Format | Columns and click on the preset picture for One, then OK. If
this solves the problem in a given document, and you are experiencing the
