Document settings

Hi
Every new document that I open, opens in Landscape. When trying to change
the outlay from Landscape to Portrait in the page setup screen, it comes up
with a margin error. It also does not skip over to the next page when typing
a multiple page document. I have tried the default settings as well as
reinstalling word, but no luck.
Can someone please assist?

Go to Format | Columns and choose the preset picture for One, then click OK.
