Hi:

Ever since I changed out my motherboard my OS (WinXP Home) has shut down
twice stating that it had to shut down so it wouldn't get corrupted or
something. When I changed out the mobo, I did a repair install of WinXP, and
thought that that would do the trick. Evidently not :( I have also had to
uninstall and reinstall my security system because it also shut down and
required reinstallation.

Does this mean that I have to purchase another CD of WinXP in order to be
stable again?

Thanks for any help you may offer.

No, you can still do a clean install from the one you already have .. a
new copy won't make any difference at all.

If a clean install still has problems, then you may have a hardware
problem with the new motherboard, or with one of the things plugged in
'disagreeing' with it. Did you run a memory test (www.memtest86.com)
after the motherboard change? Did you try something like the Prime95
'torture test' (www.mersenne.org) to see if the new setup can actually
get the right results on complicated maths (without melting. 8>.)?
