New Monitor

I just bought a new 19" LCD flat screen monitor and the manual says that
recommened resolution is 1280 x 1024. When I set it to that resolution,
everything is so small. When I set it up so that everything is normal size at
800 x 600 objects appear slightly out of focus. How do I set my computer up
so that things will not appear so small while still using the recommened
resolution?

You can choose Large or Extra Large Font on the Appearance tab of your
Display Properties.

You can customize the size of many Windows components.
Right-click on the desktop and go to Properties. Then, on the
appearance tab, click Advanced.

Also, in most apps, you can change the size of the text by
holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling the mouse wheeel.

Also, be sure to use the correct monitor definition file for your
unit. Windows by default will use "Plug-&-Play" Monitor. Get
the latest from your vendor's web site. Many LCD monitors
also have a "Fine Tuning" application to adjust the monitor to
your video card. This can make a big difference. Finally, be sure
to set the font rendering type to "Clear Type" in the Display
Properties, Appearance (TAB), Effects options.
