Hi can anyone tell me why my new flat screen monitor 'flickers for the first
5 minutes?
Have tried different resolutions. Monitor is Hanton Digimate 17 inch flat
screen
Thanks

One thing I forgot. It may be your video display drivers. you might want to
update them first to try to narrow it down.

Go to the manufacturers website and see if there are drivers that you can
download for the LCD. If that doesn't do it, the monitor may be defective. I
just did a search for Hanton Digimate 17 drivers and cannot find anything.
Was this a really cheap flatpanel. If so, you get what you pay for. If it's
under warranty, see if they will fix or exchange it.

'Drivers' for a monitor are only definitions for the resolutions and
refresh rates it will handle. Standard for an LCD panel is 60 Hz (they
have long response compared with CRT and do not normally flicker at
that rate). So check it is not being driven at a rate outside normal
for it. If it has only been detected as a 'Default monitor' this may be
the case. On the Display - Settings - click Advanced; Adapters page
click 'List all modes' and select the monitor's native resolution at 60
Hz from the list

If it is on 60Hz already it is probably a defective device

yes was cheap £150 from Dabs on line and can live with it if only 5 minutes
flicker from cold. is brilliant after that. Not clever eneough to check out
my video card so a friend is coming round tomorrow.
Thanks

Don't want to ask the vendor yet till I am sure it's not me. Plus internet
purchase so complicated.
thanks
