New MoBo and Chip won't even get to POST...... help!

Hey there!

I have a new P4 3Gig chip and MB with appropriate DDR RAM and a new
NVIDEA 8x AGP video card yet it won't even get to the POST.
Realistically, shouldn't it get to the POST (BIOS) even if there were
a problem with any of the rest? This only happened to me once before
and it was a fried MB.... could it be anything else before I send it
back?

Thanks!!!

I don't really understand why a modern mainboard would do this, but
if I'm not mistaken you might need to have a PCI video card
installed if you have reset the BIOS. It seems strange, but
I am pretty sure that happened to me recently, and probably about
two years ago. Even if true. Others can correct if somehow I'm
mistaken and off base. In any case, it may or may not be the
solution to your problem.

Off hand guess-- power problem. I had this and had forgotten to
connect the (secondary) four-wire power. I had plugged in the big
power plug.

If it's a P4/3.0E, then its a "Prescott" core. I had this problem. My mobo
had to be at a certain Rev. level to recognize the cpu. The fans and
everything else would power up, but no post, boot, nuthin. Check w/your
mobo manufacturer.
