asus mobo

Hi:
I have been building a comp using a Asus A7N8X-E mobo. I have assembled
everything together and fired it up......but I get no picture.
I have tested the monitor on another system, its good, different video
cards, again cards test good. Green indicator lite on board is on, but I
hear no POST beep(s) whatso ever. I am beginning to think its a bad CPU.
Or am I missing something too obvious?
Any hints, opinions, or clues would be appreciated before I throw any
money on a chip and or mobo.

Disconnect everything except motherboard CPU and PSU. Should get error
for 'no memory'. If not, try spare/borrowed PSU. Is hard to tell if
motherboard or CPU. If error beeps, add RAM and see if just gives error for
no video card. Add video card and monitor and so on...
