No, this iis not a "current story:" it is a suggestion
posted anonymously and with no information, let alone
evidence, about the malware it purports to describe.

This definitely is a "current story". Whther that story
relates to "current events" is an entirely different matter.
The idea is sound though.

What do you mean it was posted with no information or evidence? The
link in the message shows a screen shot of this malware and mentions
that Symantec was familiar with it:

Also I was hit by it myself, a few days ago, and fixed it by following
the directions given here and doing a System Restore:
