Have you checked the boot order in your BIOS to ensure it is checking either
the CD or floppy for boot device first?

You can't do anything if the PC is "working properly" but
won't do what you want it to do. Sounds like the PC has
a defective owner.

Who should pay someone who knows how to do it and watch.

yes and then after it shows that its reading the
cd/floppy it still says to insert the boot diskette

No, I used my old hard drive that my old computer had
(40Gb) if i can format it how can it be done ?

In other words it is not booting from the CD.

Check your cables and jumper settings for the CD drive and your HDD,
too. If they are not correct it could prevent the CDROM from booting.

Then the O/P should read - read - read. There are tens of thousands of
articles on the internet about how to set up a new computer and how to load
Windows XP. Maybe Google would work?
