new laptop is slow

my new (like a week old) laptop has a 2-4 minute startup time and sometimes
it takes a long time for programs to open
it still has the 90 day warranty
best way to fix it?

Start > Run and type in

msconfig

Uncheck *everything* from "Startup" tab. Take into account that this will disable you antivirus software and your firewall (if you use a third-party one). Restart normally. Does the system start faster?

i tried that but it didnt get it to start up faster
i think maybe i got a virus on it before i got the firewall installed
any other suggestions?
