New install - saving old email and contact info

I have recently upgraded my motherboard and processor, and
prior to switching my harddrives over I need to save all
of my old email and contact information, so that I can do
a clean install of Windows XP on the new board. How can I
save these messages and contacts, so that I can import
them back into Outlook XP once I am done?

They are currently in Outlook XP

Hi
If you go to Outlook express and under tools/accounts
then select the account and use the export option this
will save the account information.
Then import it from the same place.
