new install; question re sharing outlook address book

M

Mark G.

i just did a fresh install due to a crash, and have a problem.

outlook 2003 contact list; i want to share it with the address book.
on my other computers, when i open address book in outlook express, under
the tools menu there is an options selection which has a data sharing
selection; this is what i want.

but my new install doesnt have this selection; no options selection under
tools. just accounts and action, nothing else

????

where did it go, how do i enable/select it if it isnt there?

thanks,,

No current version of Outlook supports that option, and the old version that
did still required Outlook and OE to be on the same partition.

thanks for the response;

note; they are both on the same partition; i had a crash and had to
reinstall everything on my laptop.

the strange thing is that the software is identical on my laptop and
desktop, and the desktop does have that feature (and the laptop had it until
the rebuild). but they both had earlier versions of office (2000) on them
before, where now the laptop due to the format/rebuild has not - there must
be a way to enable it.

the only reason i want it is that there are several other programs i have
the seem to only use address book - fax/printer, cell phone etc. Not
having the option is a real pita.

The only version of Outlook that ever permitted this was the "Internet Mail
Only" mode of Outlook 2000, a downsized simplified version that permitted it
only because it had to use OE's address book engine instead of Outlook's.

You can force OE to use Outlook's Contacts as its data source with a reg
hack if you want:
