Sharing address of OE

J

Jorge Cervantes

I have been using OE (Outlook Express) as the default email client for a
long time.
After recently upgrading to Office 2007, I am planning to use Outlook 2007
for emailing.
What I found was that some addresses in OE did not appear in Outlook address
book.
WAB4 is enabled to share Outlook addresses for Outlook. That is working
just fine.
Please tell me how to share Outlook Express addresses for Outlook. Jorge

What do you mean by "some" don't appear? When you enable the sharing of
Outlook Contacts by using the "UseOutlook" key in the registry, you are
telling Outlook Express to not use its own contacts in the WIndows Address
Book but to use the COntacts folder in Outlook instead. Unless you first
import your contacts from the Windows address book to Outlook (before you
enable the sharing), Outlook Express will see only those contacts you have
added to Outlook's Contacts folder and the contacts in the Windows Address
Book will be inaccessible within Outlook Express.

My brain is murky this morning.
I am confused about address books.
I have been using OE since it came out.
I also have been using Outlook for calendar and also contact information

Until this week, I have been using OE exclusively for emailing with WAB4
(with Use Outlook setting).
So the list of addresses in OE address book is two or three times longer
than Outlook's contact folder.
My question is how to migrate address in OE to Outlook address book.
Thank you. Jorge

If you're sharing your Outlook contacts with OE via the WAB4 registry key,
there's nothing to migrate. Outlook Express is already using the Outlook
contacts and there's nothing more in OE than is contained in Outlook
already. Now, you may be seeing multiple addresses for each contact if you
have more than one mail address defined for some of the contacts (E-mail 2
and E-mail 3 fields). You may also be seeing an entry for contacts with fax
numbers. I'll have to look at what WAB sees when Outlook contact sharing is
enabled to be more precise, but, again, if you've defined "UseOutlook" to be
"1" in the WAB registry settings, then you already are using the Outlook
contacts in Outlook Express and there's nothing to migrate.
