New Install and Reg.

Okay, I purchased the full New Installation version of XP home. I went to
install this on an older computer (but still okay for the requirements). I
kept getting an error that said my media was damaged. I asked our IT person
and he handed me an XP pro-media that installed just perfect.

Now I finally got the computer hooked into the net and went to register and
its saying the product ID is wrong (I used the one in the box for my new
installation) and to reinstall.

If the media is bad how will a reinstall even be able to happen? I have no
clue what to do at this point. Any suggestions.

Do you have the receipt for XP Home? Take it back to the vendor and ask for
a replacement.

The CD keys for Pro and Home are different, as are the PID (Product ID). You'll need to get your XP Home disc replaced and reinstall.
