hello,
I have been struggling with a recurring problem with our
java struts website application running under jakarta
tomcat server.

Certain users, when they try to log into the website for
the first time, are able to get into the site, but the
moment they click on any link get kicked back to the
login page. No error gets thrown, but the user just gets
thrown back to the login page. Even when this is
happening, when you log in using the same username/
password from a different computer, the user can navigate
the site without any problem. (Using exactly the same
Internet Explorer version and settings).

Now, when these users keep trying for a few days, one
fine day, they will be able to begin accessing the site
from the same machine with the same IE version which
initially was not allowing them to access the site.

Also, we have noticed that after being able to access the
website, if the user is inactive for a few days from the
same machine, he again starts getting the same problem.
The problem is essentially seen only with people with new
PC's or people with fresh installation of Windows/IE/ or
updates.

I would really apprecioate any help in helping me resolve
this issue. Is there some kind of update that Microsoft
pushes onto a new PC/Internet Explorer or something like
that?

Thanks for your help,

SUJIT

Would it be possible to get access to the site where this problem is occurring? If so, I will try to reproduce the problem you are describing. If I can reproduce the problem, I can work on determining the cause

To answer your question: "Is there some kind of update that Microsoft pushes onto a new PC/Internet Explorer or something like that?

Your users may be downloading updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
