new HP DJ 6122 / 45 cartridge vs 15?

On the demise of my HP DJ 3820, I bought a new HP DJ 6122. It works
fine. A few novel comments:

1- A blue light examiner has been added to gage the color of the paper
to then print better photo hues.

2- The functions of paper handling is a bit more neat that the 3820.

3- Overall noise is less (feer collisions).

4- DOS printing is no different than the 3820. Still an obtuse event,
though more reliable than on 3820.

5- 6122 uses a 45 ink cartidge for black. I have two 15 cartridges left
over from the 3820. It functions, but less than half the nozzles are
addressed by the 6122 algorithm. Also have a 78 color cartidge left over
from the 3820, and I'll use that first.

6- Question is: Is ther any way that I can mask some terminals on the
15 cartridges to make them work decently in the 6122? Or am I obliged to
retreieve the ink by knocking out the BB and sucking it out with a
hypo., for refilleng the 45?

The #15 cartridge will work in printers designed for the #45 cartridge. If you
are having an issue with missing nozzles the most likely cause is due to
buildup on the electrical contacts. Try cleaning the contacts as shown at the

Ok. Tried a new 15 I have on hand. Worked fine.

I refilled another 15 a while ago. This is the first trial of it. I
then washed the nozzle face with windex liquid. Brought many of them
back. Another such wash brought some more back. Good enough for drafts..

Thanks..

Not that I'm complaining, that link only brings up a query page.

I think the old fashioned way is to rub cartridge contacts a bit with a
clean pencil eraser. I think me real problem is that the refilled 15 is
in a mid-life crisis... se la vie!

Thanks,
Ang.
