I'm trying to build a new PC from parts. The BIOS reads the system correctly. I try to install XP pro, goes OK until it restarts then always asks to press any key to acess CD, nothing happens. If I try to boot the PC with the CD, same message, and nothing happens. I'm stumped, since I can't get to the recovery console or do anything else.

Appreciate any help

You need to access your BIOS again and remind it to boot off the
harddrive and not the CD ;)

Have you got the CD as the first boot device and the hard drive as the
second boot device in the bios. If so what happens if you leave the PC when
the message to boot from CD comes up.???
If you cannot set first second or third boot device then perhaps you need to
go into the bios at restart and set the boot device to be the harddrive.

yea ive been having a similar problem. whenever I boot
up, it asks if i want to boot from the cd. If i say no,
I get an error that says "Disk boot failure, Insert
system disk and press Enter." So I stick the windows cd
in and everything boots up. Ive sent emails to Giga-byte
tech support because I have a Giga-byte motherboard, and
what they told me to do, set the hard drive as the
primary boot device did nothing. even when I dont even
put my cd drive as a boot device I get the same message.
