New hard drive locks up

The PC store said my aborts were the problem of my flaky old drive, so
I got a new one. Now the new one locks up. The Event viewer shows
nothing happening for hours until I turn off my computer, although the
screen is showing whatever it showed at the time.

Various Event Properties at the lock up show:

is 32

Fault bucket 96924935

Faulting application NOPDB.exe, version 17.0.0.83, faulting module

The description for EVENT ID ( 1020 ) in Source ( Speed Disk service )

remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE = flag to
retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The
following information is part of the event: D:. (no information

==================

I haven't used Office products including Exchange. Microsoft
Antispyware is active, Norton Antivirus is active and current. Sygate
Security Agent says - Home, Host Integrity Result - Passed, & Server
Connection Status - Disconnected. (I need Sygate to get my VPN
connection working, but so far haven't got it working - before nor
after my new hard drive - possibly due to my router).

Uh, Wow - Sounds like you need a general "Clean & Tweak". Speed
Disk raises a red flag, especially in light of drive issues. Those type of
Events would indicate Service issues and some driver problems also. I
honestly don't know where to advise you start. Probably, in Add/Rem
in Control Panel to remove old/unnecessary applications. After that I
would update Chipset, Video drivers and do a really comprehensive
Malware check.

I used Google to post that message and it told me that it did not get
my message, please try again. I tried again, and ended up with two
messages.
