VSS help please error on LAN??

After removing some spyware (I think) I get a PC which crashes when it feels
like it (mainly when opening explorer or browsing the network. The event log
says:

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine
IEventSystem::Query. hr = 0x80040155.

Also, I am getting this one:

TraceFileName parameter not located in registry; Default trace file used is .

Any ideas????
