This wizard will NOT go away . Tried using it once for
recognizing a mic & then cancelled but it will NOt go away
& returns with every start of windows XP which slows down
the process having to cancel each & every time Any Tips
Anyone MIcrosoft appears non contactable to help
out ..online & simply passes on the bucket to you
people .I suppose they don't have enough money to pay some
one to answer support questions live on line
thanx

Is it still trying to install the microphone? If so, let it go till the
point it requires drivers, then click cancel - it should not bother you
again.

I have the same type of problem. My wife tried to install
a projector. the wizard thinks it was a printer.
The "cancel" stops it until the pc is restarted then the
wizard comes up again.

The next machine I get is going to by an Apple!!!

Don't get your hopes up, Lowell. The new Macs have many of the same types
of problems I see here in this newsgroup. This is why I finally decided,
after using Macs for many years, to recently make the switch to the PC.
Windows XP is certainly no less reliable and the varity of software and
peripherals is truly amazing by comparison.

Apple's planned obsolescence of their machines is just a little too short
for my tastes also. Try buying hardware or software for a Mac built and sold
during the Win95-98 time period to see what I'm talking about. Indeed, I
suspect there is more hardware and software for a Win95 computer today then
there is hardware and software for today's Mac models.
