New Footer insertion

I

iamweiss

I have a 65 page document with a footer and I am trying to insert a 10 page
doc with a different footer and need to keep two distinct footers. I tried
adding section breaks in front of and at the end of the inserted doc and
changed the footer but the footer changed to the new one in the entire doc.
How do i protect the original footer?

What am I not doing?

You have to unlink the footer in the second section from the one in the
first by clicking the Same as Previous or Link to Previous button to turn it
off. Where this button will be located depends on your version of Word,
which you haven't told us.

Also insert a section break in the target document (only one if you are
inserting the file at the end of the document, otherwise two, one before and
one after).
