Removing tables from footers

I have a pre-formatted doc which has a table in the footer. When I delete the
table, the footer is deleted as well. The empty header remains and I cannot
get the footer to return without inserting a table. How can I remove the
table and have an empty, editable footer? Thanks

If you have a table in the footer, it must have an ordinary text paragraph
after it. To prevent that paragraph from affecting the alignment of the
footer, the person who created it probably formatted this paragraph as
either Hidden or 1 point. Try displaying Hidden text to see if that makes it
appear. It not, move the mouse to the left end of the footer and click to
see if you can select anything, then press Ctrl+Spacebar to reset the text
or (if that doesn't work) manually change the font size.
