new e-mail font color is white - need to default to black

When creating a new e-mail message, the font color is white on a white
background. Cant see what I have typed unless I change the font color.

I would like to have black as my default font color. I can change it from
there, but at least i can see what it is I am typing.

How do I change the default font color when opening and creating a new
e-mail message
