new drive problem - master/slave

Hi, I have installed XP on a new drive and configured it as a Master. My
old drive has been configured as a Slave. I had assumed that I would be
able to access the data on the old drive. I cannot. The Slave drive is
present in the Device Manager (it lists it as a Western Digital etc so it is
seeing the actual drive) but not in My Computer so I have no way of
accessing the data. I have tried putting the slave in another PC and get
the same result. What am I doing wrong!!!! I appreciate any help offered.

Try going to run,type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,L.click on the drive,go to
actions,
all,select,make drive active,close out msc.

Presumably the drive is jumpered correctly?
