New drive hide and seek

Hello People,

I installed a new hard drive (IDE), I formatted it, shows up in My
Computer and other places, can save files to it.

But when I use Norton Ghost to clone the drive or the XP install disk
to install XP, the drive can't be located.

Any ideas?

in what way is the disk hooked to the system (ie: sata, onboard raid
controller, ide, etc.)? It very well could be that if the disk is sata, then
you would need to hit F2 to load the correct drivers from a floppy for
windows install to see the drive. I am pretty sure that Norton Ghost also
can not see sata drives although I haven't used Ghost in a long time. I have
come to prefer Acronis True Image for my backups since Ghost always seemed to
give me problems.
