New Doc Template in Word 2003

Here's the issue....

In all previous versions of Word I've owned, when I'd select "New
Document," I would instantly get a new window listing all my available
templates.

Now, in 2003, I first get a side bar that prompts me to select where I
want to search for templates. This adds what seems to be a totally
unnecessary extra step.

How can I get right from "New Document" to my list of templates, like I
always did? If it's not possible in this version of the program, then
I'd just assume go back to an earlier version!

In that New Document task pane, there should be a link to open template "On
My Computer" that will take you to a window that shows you all of your
available templates.

Hope that helps!

Suzanne:

I've read and re-read that page several times and still can't make
heads or toes out of it. First off, it's for Word 2002, but I guess
it's the same issue. Second, as much of an "advanced" user I think I
am, I can't seem to follow your instructions. Can you dumb it down for
me?

Thanks!

Suzanne:

You are my hero! At first, I could not follow your instructions. I
think it was the little bit of sarcasm that was throwing me off. But
then, when I dug in deeper, it was very simple. Thank you Thank you
Thank you!!!!

I'm glad you finally got it. It's not that difficult really when you
understand that you're just substituting one button for another.

Seriously, though. I would lose the parts where you say things like
"easy - you say...then you just....and the New Page dialog box comes
up." I really didn't understand that you were being facetious there,
and I spent a lot of time frustrated that it wasn't working.

Anyway, you're still my hero!

"Surprise!" didn't tip you off?

When you're as frustrated as I was with this stupid problem, you just
don't get the humor in things! Anyway, this is a happy time. No more
bickering!

Thanks again!
