new connection setup once a crossover cable is attached to both pc

In network connections, how do I set up a new connection thru "Create a new
connection" so that both pcs can see each other?
is it:
set up adv connection>
then accept incoming connections on the host computer( is it thru the COM1
port or a parallel port connection- it then asks for a user name and
password- where do I set this information up on the Guest computer
then for the Guest pc > after set up an adv connection is selected do I
choose "connect directly to another computer"? and do I choose COM1or
parallel port?

Thanks,
Angelo

Easiest way by far is to use the Network Setup Wizard. It will guide you
through every step and 'ask' for the network confugration and type.

Once run on the Host PC create a setup disk to run on other PCs if they are
not XP systems.

Are you connecting the computers to each other using a crossover
Ethernet cable? If so:

1. Don't use "Create a new connection". That's only for connections
between the parallel or serial ports of two computers. It doesn't
apply to Ethernet.

2. Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, which will make all
the necessary settings.
