Does anyone know if any of the large computer manufacturers (e.g. Dell, HP)
will be shipping there new products with XPsp2 pre-installed or will they
maintain the status quo with operating systems until Longhorn comes out?

I'm sure computer manufacturer's will soon ship
their systems with SP2 installed. It's entirely up
to them when they chose to do so.

They are already in the supply chain. Part of the delivery pressure on
Microsoft for SP2 was to be sure that Service Pack 2 would be on OEM
computers in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Of course they will ship with SP2 installed.(imagine every new PC
updating itself the first time it connects to the internet) What ever
made you think they wouldn't? Longhorn is a LONG ways down the road.

Yes, OEM manufacturers started bundling Windows XP with SP2 integrated with
their systems mid-September 2004.
