I just had a computer crash - motherboard i think. I
purchased another computer. What I want to do is
transfer the files I need, like email, favorates and the
like to the new computer. The problem is that I can't
get into Windows in the old computer - but I can access
the files. I'm using XP Prof. What files do I need to
bring over - and what's the best way to tackle this.

Thanks much,
Patrick

Thanks for the note. I'm using Outlook - not Outlook
Express. What files would I move for OUtlook? And how
about favorites?

Look for a file called outlook.pst, that should be all your emails from
microsoft outlook. (or search for *.pst)

Sorry, I should have asked before assuming. Justin has answered
regarding Outlook.
For your favorites, just copy the folder to your new favorites, and it
will overwrite. It's located here :-
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Favorites
