new computer can't get FP to log in

I had a 98 computer and was successfully logging onto my host site to publish
my changes to my web site.

I bought a new computer (with XP) and loaded my frontpage software.

My computer can successfully reach, log into and display the remote www site
but frontpage cannot match this feat, front page won't accept my login. I
tried the site via Ftp and that works fine - any ideas? Thanks!

If you have used FTP you have corrupted the FP SE on the online site server
- have the host repair /reinstall them

Then browse to you site in IE and try File Edit w/ FP to see if you can log in
If not check your firewall/proxy settings
- in Win XP SP2 Security add FP as an Exception

Check with your host...

Reinstall the server extensions through (i assume) a control panel that
comes with your hosting account (web based) - if you have such a thing with
your account, or ask the host/support to do so.

Are you using the *correct* password?

Using FTP stuffs up the server extensions - so that's probably your problem.

According to my host site:

There is going to be a problem with that. I don’t know the Admin user or
password for the Server Extensions. Did you create such a thing?

I tried your user ID and password and didn’t get any joy.

I cant view, change or even delete the extensions until I can get past this
admin login thing.

- I don't know the answers to any of his questions concerning the admin
login thing? My site is being hosted at a friend's site and not through any
hosting service places.
