new computer

I have purchased a new computer and have not been able to successfully move
my web site information to the new system. I have tried to just copy the web
site to a disk and then import but I don't get the navigation and other
critical data. I even tried to publish to the cd and that did not work
either. When I try to import from the web site directly I still don't get the
navigation data. I get a message that says I should log on to the remote site
and publish to the local but I can't figure out how to do that. Can someone
PLEASE help me with this???

The old system is a Dell notebook runing XP and the new Dell is running Vista.

I tried all the options and I am still not getting the linkages from the
original. I am wondering if I should reload the frontpage on the vista
system. This just should not be this difficult

I'm not quite clear what you have done. I would expect that just
copying the web files from one computer to the other should work.
What do you mean that you then imported them? You should just have to
open the sight directly.

There are some incompatibilities between FrontPage and Vista.
However, if you have all the Vista upgrades from Microsoft I think
most of them are fixed.

Publishing to the CD will not work because the FrontPage extensions
will not be present.

I suspect that on your old computer Windows remembered the username
and password for logging onto your web site. If you have forgoten
them contact your host. (Without the username / password security
anyone could change your web site.)
