'Never dial a connection' problem

I am running Win XP Pro which is fully updated.

Internet connection settings keep defaulting to 'never dial a connection'
upon reboot even though I keep changing to 'always connect to' my specific
ISP.

Any ideas or solutions to correct would be greatly appreciated.

You must apply and save the change as your DEFAULT setting. If you are
doing that, I can't think of any other reason why it would divert back to
your original setting.

Have you tried the other option: Dial whenever a network connection is
not present?
