I recently connected to dial up isp, but get no icon
showing my line is on the internet. Have to shut down
computer each time to get offline. ?'d Earthlink and they
said Windows XP problem. Under Networks Connection my
file shows (empty). How do I get that back? I use
Windows XP Home edition that was preloaded on my new
computer. Thanks for any help.

Hi Arleen,

Click Start | Run | ncpa.cpl
If no entry exists, goto device manager (devmgmt.msc) and remove the network
card if exists(Uninstall)
Restart Windows.

This may be a problem with NIC enumeration, preventing RAS connections from
showing up.

Now, the RAS and LAN connections should appear in ncpa.cpl window.
