I am trying to connect my two computers at home. I have a
firewall/router/hub and a cable modem. Both computers can
see the internet. However they can not talk to each
other. One computer runs windows 2000 pro the other runs
windows xp home edition. All my attempts to make these
two computers play nice have come to naught. Any one have
a clue what might be wrong?

You do not give much information ;)
I guess you have connected both computers to your router -
this should be why they can both connect to the internet.
Now - do you have set the same workgroup for yor PCs? And
do they have a different IP but the same subnet mask?

Do you have a personal firewall running e.g. ZoneAlarm
etc which is preventing each PC from direct connection?

Try running without before you make major changes to your
settings
